CRUSADERS. Edessa. Baldwin I, 1098-1100. Follis (Bronze, 25 mm, 6.40 g, 1 h). Nimbate and draped bust of Christ facing, raising his right hand in benediction and holding book of Gospels in his left; in field to left and right, IC - XC. Rev. B - A / Δ - N Jewelled cross with wedges in angles set on steps. CCS 1a. Metcalf, Crusades, p. 33. Baldwin Class 1. Porteous 2. Wäckerlin -. Extremely rare without wedges in the angles of the cross. Light scratches and with minor deposits, otherwise, good fine.

It is unclear whether this type was struck under Baldwin I or his cousin Baldwin II, who became the ruler of Edessa in 1100 after Baldwin I had become the King of Jerusalem
